THE CHALLENGE

Some children who come to Yad Yisroel arrive with significant gaps in their education. They may

have grown up in unstable homes where learning was never a priority. Others have missed years

of schooling due to poverty, illness, or neglect. Some arrive unable to read or write.

Every student is carefully assessed to understand their

specific academic needs. From there, they are placed in

small, focused learning groups led by experienced, patient

teachers.

Each week, students receive targeted academic support

across subjects: mathematics, science, Russian, English,

and Hebrew. The sessions are structured but encouraging.

As children begin to grasp the material, something remarkable

happens. Their confidence rises. Their behaviour improves. Their

class participation grows. Their self‐esteem ‐ sometimes for the

first time ‐ begins to take root.

This can become a real turning point. Many children go on to finish school with pride. Some continue into higher education. All of them
